Great first meal in NY. My boyfriend and I were lucky to stumble on this place on our first night in New York. The food was well priced, atmosphere was nice (dimmed lights, nice setting) compared to most Chinatown restaurants. They were also very nicely presented. I am Malaysian and found the dishes to be very authentic, not to mention the menu is extensive! There were appetizers, noodle dishes, rice dishes, meat entres, traditional chinese dishes and dessert. Each heading had about 10-15 choices under it, so as you can imagine, the menu stretched on for several pages. There are also some delicious looking fruit drinks/smoothies that I saw people ordering.

Generally solid casual SE Asian food. Normally a place advertising Malaysian and Thai and Chinese food would send me running (e.g., to the redoubtable Nha Trang across the street) but the beef rendang and okra dish we had here were pretty satisfying and tasty.

Beef Rendang- slow cooked beef with coconut curry and spices with coconut rice- really good nasi lemak – curry chicken with anchovies egg, salad -a value meal at 5.50 the noodles are good – the pad Thai, mee goreng .. Service varies – friendly with the slight pushiness of Chinatown – wanting to roll tables – once u have finished eating -cut the conversations – pay the check and get ready to leave…

Some of the dishes taste much more authentic than the other Malasian restaurants in the neighborhood and they remind me of the food served at outdoor restaurants found on all over Malaysia.
