The sushi was not as fresh as I had hoped. Overall, it was average… Nothing to rave about. The service was very friendly and efficient, and the restaurant and bathrooms were very clean. Their shrimp tempura roll was yummy.
Quiet, affordable and all about service.. Tucked away on a hidden section of Mott street, this was so far some of the best service I’ve had in NYC. My glass was always full on account of friendly, attentive but not annoying or aggressive servers. My dinner companion had the pineapple fried rice wich came full of stirfried chicken and prawns. The pineapple really set off the flavor of the shrimp and chicken. Neither of wich were overcooked or stringy. I had a plate called sushi deluxe. My dish was a supprisingly large plate of assorted nigri(salmon, mackeral, yellow tail and natural red tuna) with a tuna roll. I appreciated the presentation as well. My plate was filled with swirls of eel sauce and flowers made from different sauces like wasabi, curry and spicy mustard. Sakura would be a nice place for a quite intimate date for sushi fans.
