Sarah Simmons much touted Birds & Bubbles is known for its fried chicken and Champagne combinations. We ordered a Chicken & Egg Biscuit which was fried chicken in a biscuit with a deviled egg sauce. We also tried the Chicken Tender Basket which was served with a spicy sorghum mustard. I thought the Chicken & Egg Biscuit was pretty good the biscuit was a bit too dense for my liking. The fried chicken was well done but not outstanding. therestaurantfairy.com

Shrimp and Grits & Gameday. Fantastic dinner! Sarah Simmon’s creativity in the kitchen and from the bar is one of a kind. The food is Southern inspired with the edginess you’d expect from an NYC downtown restaurant. The mixed drink and champagne selection is extensive. Started with sweet potato pie, ordered brisket and shrimp/grits for the main, with a side of Crispy Potato Salad (recommendation of Sarah – I imagine the fried chicken is good too). Also sampled the Southern Fattoush that included a beet puree discovered a few bites into the salad. Oh and the seasonal slaw was a meal in itself. Rounded out the dinner with Birthday Cake and port. The location is unique – a very narrow sliver of a restaurant tucked into a neighborhood. A bit cold for the patio, but I imagine it’s a nice addition. it was worth the momentary hesitation when dropped off by the cab at the address. Just make sure to look close for the sign – it’s there! Bravo Sarah!
