While I fully understand it’s Restaurant Week I expected more from Il Mulino Prime. The service was marginal throughout the experience. My party was made to feel like we weren’t the sort of clientele that the waiter thought should be darkening his door. Prophetically enough he was right–I expect much better food at that price point. It’s disappointing when the best thing on the menu is dessert and Il Mulino is supposed to be know as a steak place. The first course was pretty good, but in all cases overshadowed the entree. I paid the surcharge and got the steak but it was lacking compared to the other two courses. One of the most distracting aspects of the restaurant is the attempt it made to look and feel like a fun, trendy place. Nonsensical quotes were painted on one wall with what appeared to be resin animal heads on the remaining walls. Pumping through the speakers was dance music giving us the overall impression we were eating in a GAP clothing store. When the bill came after much prodding for it, I wasn’t altogether surprised to see an additional charge that shouldn’t have been there. Regrettably this took another 15 minutes to clear up ensuring I won’t be back. Perhaps the next restaurant to move into that location will be better?
